First class, hell yes!

I love the high speed train from Madrid to Asturias. Ten years ago it was a solid 8 hour journey, but with the high speed improvements through the Asturian mountains we can now make it in just under 6. The great thing about rail travel is the seats are unbelievably roomy (even for the wide butt) and so much leg room. It is quite refreshing after a 9 hour flight with your knees just under your chin! Since I will never be able to afford first class airfare I indulge in very affordable first class train accommodation's. The meals are very delicious and include before dinner cava and after dinner liquors. ...........
The food AND the cava AND the liquors were lovely...... as well as the nap that followed  zzzzzzzz

Que Paso?

OK I can not believe that Spain lost this game...... We are talking about the BEST PLAYERS in the world! Nobody cares about soccer in the United States....I am so ashamed of this defeat. Team USA had better enjoy the moment because it will never happen again! I always laughed at the grown men in Spain that would cry after a loss....I too felt like crying. It's all so embarrassing!

Veguin, Asturias, España

Next to my husbands house is this tiny park. My son and his friends spent a lot of time talking and spitting endless bags of sunflower seeds here. I have sat here in the evenings to watch the sun set on the mountain side. But mostly I have viewed countless dogs poop here from my bedroom window. The structure on the left is a memorial to 4 miners from Veguin that lost their lives in the coal mine during the early 80's. The structure on the right is a replica of a Asturian Horreo pronounced Oreo, like the cookie. A horreo is a barn, the top used to store grains free from rodents and the bottom used to store everything else. I will post pictures of real horreos next time.
