Heart of America - El corazón de América.

Kansas, land of big open spaces. Extreme temperatures. A church on every corner. Religious fanatics, Gay haters, Republicans in every elected office,  and GUNS FOR EVERY MAN WOMAN AND CHILD

I like this man!

Kansas is a back ass ward Republican state. I know one of our state senators , he is a nice enough guy , he tried to run for President.... but he is still a Republican. I laugh at all the farmers here that proudly claim to be Republican but yet are some of the largest welfare recipients in the state. Anyhooo I have been giving the candidates a lot of thought. I even wanted to like 2 guys in the republican party. I have always admired John McCain. A lot. But his support of Bush goes against everything I believe in. I like Rudy Giuliani, but not so much to give him my one and only vote. I travel to Europe every year and its not my imagination that every year the USA is disliked more and more.World relations are an important issue for me. I think a totally fresh start is in order. I think this man can do a lot to mend how the world feels about me.(and You). I say whatever to the naysayers that scoff he has no experience, Bush has no intelligence, clue, idea , brains...... Sadly I always seem to back the guy that never wins.

All the cousins had a blast throwing snowballs, making snow angels and throwing each other into snow drifts. This is the gang sans Miguel . It wasn't the same without you mi amor. Mi perro, mi gato

Greetings from Topeka Kansas! I know it's been a while since I last posted, and I apologize to the three people that read this blog. My laziness started with a four day migraine and left me without a creative thought what-so-ever. I am stranded in my home today watching the freezing rain, snow and sleet from the comfort of my 68 degree living room. Mi amor Raphael is growing as you can see. Miguel has taught him to shake hands and his bathroom habits are improving. I did however catch him molesting my son's teddy bear. That was a bit horrifying! Besos to all......

The Winter War

Yesterday it was 9 degrees ( -13 Celsius) today we get the first snow of the season. More importantly, there is a war brewing within the walls of our home. Lets call it "The Battle of the Thermostat". Who will win this battle? First meet the waring parties... Mr. Tightwad & Ms. Blue Fingers.

Mr. Tightwad walks around the house constantly complaining of the future electric bill. He has an eagle eye and guards the little thermostat on the wall like its a safe holding his gold. By the way Mr. T is a grump and nobody likes him.

Ms. Blue-Fingers is getting a little bit old. She has paid her dues to mother nature just by living so many years in Kansas (aka Hell) She is sweet and kind but it is hard for her to be that way when she is blue and miserable. Ms. Blue will eventually prevail (around January) but until then it will remain cold within the walls of this home. In more ways than one.

Yes. Its what it looks like!

If anyone has spent very much time in Kansas you realize that its not a liberal state. Just a year ago we were allowed to buy beer and liquor on Sunday. Most of you take for granted purchasing your wine or liquor in the same shop that you purchase your food. Here liquor is strictly regulated and can only be purchases in a LIQUOR STORE. No other items may be sold such as soda , ice , lottery tickets, tobacco etc.

We have no beaches here, but we have a few small lakes. God help the woman that would be so sinful as to take off her swim suit top. I'm sure that its illegal here, like everything else.

Imagine my surprise when my cousins Berto and Carmen Maria took me to the Jurassic museum in Lastres, and this giant display met me at the entrance! Wow.... dinosaurs. Doing it.

Spain is so liberal. The difference between where my husband comes from and where I come from is huge. I love it! Besos

It wasn't as hot as I expected but that's going to change soon, its forecasted to be 95 degrees all of next week. (35 Celsius) Tanner was happy to get home to his bedroom and his "stuff". Miguel leaves in 2 days for Las Vegas ,I"m glad its him and not me as I couldn't face one more airport for all the sidra in Asturias..... well that's not true. Id probably get back on a plane right now for ......... a case! We will post pictures in a day or 2. Besos.
